Meet Our Veterinary Assistants
Martin
Assistant
Martin is a dedicated animal lover with a deep passion for animal care. Growing up as an only child, he was entrusted with the responsibility of caring for a wide variety of pets, including fish, turtles, frogs, birds, cats, and dogs. Today, is now the proud owner of a mini Goldendoodle named Chase, a Ragdoll cat named Mimi, and several fish.
Martin recently graduated from the Veterinary Assistant program at Algonquin College. With a diverse background in animal care, including roles as a dog walker, kennel attendant, and veterinary assistant, he has developed a solid understanding of animal behavior and canine health, nutrition, and exercise. His experience has equipped him to recognize signs of discomfort and illness in animals, allowing him to take proactive steps in ensuring their well-being.
Known for his excellent customer service and positive attitude, Martin is always eager to learn from others and bring fresh perspectives to the team. Outside of work, he has practiced martial arts daily since the age of five and enjoys cooking, swimming, skiing, and spending time with family and friends.
Olivia
Assistant
Olivia is a Veterinary Assistant currently in her second year of the Veterinary Technician program at Algonquin College. While she is relatively new to the industry, her passion for veterinary medicine has been lifelong. Her love for animals began in childhood, growing up with dogs and cats at home, and she has always been deeply committed to animal welfare, treating every pet she encounters as if they were her own. Olivia’s greatest strength is her ability to be a team player. She actively looks for opportunities to support her colleagues and is always eager to learn from their experiences. Olivia has completed a Fear-Free certification course, several IDEXX certificates, and Hill’s Science Diet modules, all of which have enhanced her skills and knowledge in animal care. Outside of work, she enjoys watching movies and spending time with her family. In the summer, Olivia stays active by hiking and running Spartan races. She shares her home with a 13-year-old black cat named Gizmo and an 8-year-old Shepherd/Husky mix named Belle, both of whom she adores and loves spending time with.
Abbigail S.
Assistant
Meet Abbigail, a dedicated Veterinary Assistant at Eagleson Veterinary Clinic. Currently enrolled in Algonquin’s veterinary technician program, Abbigail is eager to expand her knowledge and skills in the field. Despite being new to the industry, she has achieved Level 1 Fear Free certification in both dog/cat and avian care, showcasing her commitment to compassionate animal care. Driven by her lifelong passion for animals and medicine, Abbigail made the decision to transition from her previous career to pursue her dreams in veterinary medicine. Her willingness to learn and grow is evident in her positive attitude and eagerness to contribute to our team. Outside of work, Abbigail enjoys a variety of hobbies, including reading, playing board games, and caring for her own beloved pets. Her home is filled with an eclectic mix of furry and scaly companions, each bringing their own unique charm to her life. Abigail discovered her passion for exotics while growing up in rural Quebec, where she was surrounded by frogs, toads, and snakes.
Inspired by her upbringing, she aspires to pursue her Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) certification in exotics in the future. Abigail’s dedication and love for animals make her a valuable asset to our clinic, enriching the lives of both pets and their owners every day.
Ryan
Assistant
Meet Ryan, a budding enthusiast in the veterinary field with aspirations to become a tech. Although new to the professional world of veterinary care, Ryan’s passion is evident and growing each day. When not at work, he loves to indulge in video games and listening to music. His pet Lily, who enjoys perching on his shoulders, is a constant source of joy and inspiration. Ryan is eagerly soaking up all the experience he can and looks forward to advancing his education in veterinary technology.
Abigail
Assistant
Abigail, one of our dedicated Veterinary Assistants, is driven by her passion for animal welfare, which fuels her commitment to providing exceptional care to all creatures great and small. Her journey into the world of veterinary medicine began as an occasional volunteer at the clinic managed by her mother for several decades. It was there that she first discovered her calling, assisting in procedures such as her own dog’s spay and orthopedic surgeries. Since then, Abigail has expanded her expertise to include working with horses, cats, and dogs in various settings. Her compassionate approach and attention to detail ensure that every animal receives the highest standard of care. Beyond her professional endeavours, Abigail finds joy in long hikes with her closest companion, her dog. With her unwavering dedication and genuine love for animals, Abigail is an invaluable member of our veterinary team, committed to making a positive difference in the lives of both pets and their owners.
Alyson
Assistant
Alyson is a passionate animal lover with a diverse background in veterinary care. She began her journey as a veterinary assistant in high school, where she worked at a small general practice. She developed a love for wildlife and began volunteering and fostering wildlife rescue. Alyson then worked at the Arnprior Humane Society before enrolling in the Vet Assistant program at Algonquin College and pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinary technician. With her first year of Vet Tech school completed, she is on her way to reaching her goal. Alyson enjoys playing video games, skiing, cooking and baking, and crafting. She is also a proud pet parent to Zoey and Charlie, two beloved animals who bring her endless joy.
Caitlyn
Assistant
Caitlyn is a Veterinary Assistant at Eagleson Veterinary Clinic. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with, training, grooming and generally taking care of her dog, 2 cats, turtle, and fish.
Calli
Assistant
Calli is a dedicated member of our team, bringing her passion for animal care and a fresh perspective to every task. With a veterinary assistant certification from Algonquin College, Calli is able to establish a strong rapport with the animals under our care, ensuring they feel safe and supported throughout their visit. Her love of animals and desire to help them thrive is evident in every interaction. Outside of work, Calli enjoys playing with her beloved cat, Boots, and immersing herself in various outdoor projects. At home, she shares her life with Koda, her eight-year-old Shih-Poo, and Boots, a ten-month-old rescue cat. With Calli’s enthusiasm, compassion, and dedication, your pets are in capable and caring hands. We’re grateful to have her as part of our team, enriching the lives of both animals and their owners alike.
Charlotte
Assistant
Charlotte is an experienced veterinary assistant who has worked in a variety of settings, including shelters, general practices, emergency and critical care, and specialty veterinary clinics. She earned her Veterinary Assistant diploma from Algonquin College in 2011 and is passionate about fear-free techniques, animal behaviour, and service animal work. Charlotte spends her free time participating in ringette, hiking, camping, and hosting game nights with family and friends. Evee, her beloved cat, and Sully, her large furry friend, share her home.
Cheyanne
Assistant
Cheyanne is a passionate individual with a diverse set of interests and a deep love for the natural world. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Biotechnology, she has embarked on an academic journey, currently pursuing an advanced biotechnology program at Algonquin College. Cheyanne’s fascination with animals is rooted in the captivating narratives presented by David Attenborough and Animal Planet, sparking a lifelong interest in the intricacies of the animal kingdom. Beyond her academic pursuits, Cheyanne finds joy and relaxation in a variety of hobbies. She is a skilled knitter, finding artistic expression in the rhythmic click-clack of knitting needles. Her culinary creativity shines through her love for baking and cooking, with a particular focus on crafting traditional Caribbean dishes. This amalgamation of scientific curiosity, creative expression, and culinary exploration paints a vibrant portrait of Cheyanne’s life, where each pursuit enriches the tapestry of her experiences.
Erin
Assistant
Erin is an animal lover who began her career as a veterinary assistant in high school. She adores large dogs and has two Cane Corsos: Kilo and Odin. Erin enjoys hiking, spending time with friends and family, and pursuing her hobbies of reading and painting in her spare time. Despite her heavy workload, Erin continues to care for animals by working part-time at Eagleson Veterinary Clinic. Erin is a dedicated and compassionate advocate for pet health and well-being, thanks to her experience and passion for animal care.
Jenna
Assistant
Jenna, our enthusiastic vet assistant, shares her home with Mimi, a ten-year-old feline who’s as adept at capturing hearts as she is at hunting mice. When she’s not doting on Mimi, Jenna can be found engrossed in a book, mastering a crochet pattern, or pushing her limits at the gym. A recent Health Sciences graduate from the University of Ottawa, Jenna’s newfound passion for veterinary medicine led her to join the Eagleson Veterinary Clinic team this past March. Through her dedication and zeal, it’s evident she’s on a promising path towards becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
Katie Fitz
Assistant
Katie Fitz, a veterinary assistant at Eagleson Veterinary Clinic, originates from Ireland, where she studied Animal Care at Cavan Institute before furthering her education in Farm Animal Management & Husbandry. From a young age, Katie has been drawn to animals, a passion that led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Since joining Eagleson in 2023, Katie has formed meaningful connections with numerous pets, solidifying her dedication to the industry. She recently completed her CPR course and actively engages in continuing education to enhance her knowledge for the benefit of pets and their owners. Katie’s journey into veterinary medicine was driven by an unwavering desire to learn and care for animals. Her upbringing, filled with experiences on her granny’s farm and visits to the zoo, instilled in her a deep appreciation for the natural world. At the clinic, Katie’s greatest strength lies in her patient care. She approaches each pet with empathy and treats them as if they were her own, finding immense joy in witnessing their recovery and reuniting them with their owners. Her passion for her work only continues to grow, fueled by the rewarding experiences she encounters daily and the opportunity to collaborate with remarkable colleagues. Outside of work, Katie enjoys reading, trying new cuisines, exploring new places, and embarking on adventures to broaden her horizons.
Katie H.
Assistant
A devoted veterinary assistant, Katie is enthusiastic about ensuring dogs go home with their owners in good health. She is familiar with the strong bond between animals and their people because she has a variety of pets, including her horse Tallulah, dogs Melvin, Jackson, and Ryley, and cat Elliot. Katie likes to braid horses’ manes for horse exhibitions, go on horseback rides, and study to further her understanding of health science. Her passion for the veterinary profession is motivated by her dedication to providing pets with great care and promoting favourable results for animals and their human partners.
Kyla
Assistant
Kyla is a dedicated Veterinary Assistant who graduated from St. Lawrence College in 2008 and has been immersed in veterinary medicine ever since. Her love for pets is evident in her day-to-day work and personal life, where she often takes on pet-sitting duties for others. Kyla shares her home with Leo, a pet with a penchant for sleeping and a vigorous appetite, leading to insistent food demands. When she’s not attending to animals or reading, one of her favourite hobbies, Kyla’s commitment to pet care continues to be a defining aspect of her life. Her experience and passion make her a valuable asset in veterinary care.
Mackenzie
Assistant
Mackenzie graduated from the Veterinary Assistant program with distinction at St. Lawrence College in 2021. Upon graduating she worked at a general practice for two and a half years and gained many skills. Mackenzie is Fear Free certified and has a special interest in patient care and emergency medicine. She is also currently enrolled in Penn Foster’s veterinary technician program to pursue her dream of becoming a technician. Mackenzie shares her home with her 3 cats, Elliott, Oliver and Herbert who all have unique personalities. In her free time, Mackenzie enjoys playing video games, watching movies/TV shows, and travelling when she can.
Madison
Assistant
Madison is a compassionate Veterinary Assistant dedicated to providing excellent care to animals in need. With two years of experience in the industry, Madison’s journey into veterinary medicine was fueled by her lifelong love for animals. From her earliest memories, Madison has been an avid animal lover, even expressing her passion by wanting to dress up as a dog every Halloween as a child. Her desire to help animals in need and support their owners led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Madison finds fulfillment in the ability to connect with animals and their owners, knowing that she can make a difference in their lives. At the clinic, Madison’s greatest strengths lie in her empathy, understanding, and advocacy for the patients. She recognizes the challenges owners face when bringing their sick pets to the clinic and strives to provide compassionate care while treating every animal and owner with respect.
Outside of work, Madison enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, camping, and walking dogs on her days off. Her life is also enriched by her own pets, including an American Bully named Razor, who holds a special place in her heart, and a Cane Corso/Boxer mix named Athena, who brings joy with her playful nature. Madison’s home is a sanctuary of love and companionship, not only for her own beloved pets but also for the two dogs and three Bengals belonging to her boyfriend. With her genuine love for animals and dedication to their well-being, Madison is a valuable member of the Eagleson team, enriching the lives of both pets and their owners every day.
Marcel
Assistant
Marcel, a lover of adventure and animals, began his journey in the veterinary field as a volunteer at a small cat clinic in Malaysia, where he spent two enriching years. Upon returning to Canada, he pursued his passion further by becoming a vet assistant. Outside of his professional life, Marcel enjoys an active lifestyle filled with hiking, biking, kayaking, and quieter moments with reading. His connection to animals is further evidenced by his pets, Rocky, who loves playing rough, and Mitsy, who prefers cuddles, which add joy to his life.
Ruoxi
Assistant
Meet Ruoxi, a valued member of our Eagleson Veterinary Clinic team. Originally from China, Ruoxi is currently enrolled as an international student in the Veterinary Technician program at Algonquin College. With prior experience as a licensed veterinarian in China, Ruoxi is preparing to obtain her veterinarian license in Canada through the ECFVG Program. With a background in both modern and traditional veterinary medicine, including certifications in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine treatments, Ruoxi is dedicated to providing the best possible care to our furry friends. Passionate about animal welfare, she is committed to ensuring their health and happiness. In her free time, Ruoxi enjoys watching movies, TV shows, and anime, as well as playing sports like badminton and basketball. She also loves outdoor adventures such as hiking and boating with her friends. Though her English shorthaired kitten currently resides with her grandparents in China, Ruoxi’s dedication to animals is evident in everything she does. We are delighted to have Ruoxi as part of our team, bringing her expertise and compassion to our clinic.
Samantha
Assistant
With a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Biology from the University of Guelph, Sam brings three years of industry experience to our veterinary team. Her diverse roles include serving as a receptionist at an emergency clinic, assisting in rehabilitation facilities, and contributing one and a half years as a vet assistant at Eagleson. Motivated by a deep love for animals and a desire to assist people, Sam chose a career in veterinary medicine. Her exceptional strengths lie in patient care and interpersonal communication. Outside of work, Sam enjoys reading and going for walks with her puppy.
Thalia
Pharmacy Assistant
Meet Thalia, our pharmacy assistant at Eagleson Veterinary Clinic. Currently studying general sciences at the University of Ottawa, Thalia recently joined the veterinary medicine industry with a passion for animals and a desire for change from the human pharmaceutical sector. With strengths in independence, efficiency, and organization, Thalia ensures smooth operations in our pharmacy. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors with friends.
Vikki
Assistant
A devoted and knowledgeable employee, Vikki contributes a lot of information to the team. She grew up in a rural area and had a strong bond with animals from an early age. Vikki obtained valuable experience working at a veterinary clinic for three years after graduating from St. Lawrence College, Kingston, in 2008. She had a ten-year break from the profession, and in 2021 she triumphantly returned. In her spare time, Vikki likes fishing, road vacations, and amateur cake creation, which her husband enjoys. Her treasured 9-year-old Lab mix, Kennedy, is known for her warm embraces and is a cherished friend.
Dr. Zaid
Overnight Veterinarian
Dr. Mohamed Zaid is one of our dedicated overnight veterinarians who brings compassion and expertise to every patient he cares for. With a commitment to continual learning and staying up to date on the latest advancements in veterinary medicine, Dr. Zaid ensures that each furry friend receives the highest standard of care. Beyond the clinic, Dr. Zaid finds joy in the great outdoors, where he can often be found exploring nature and nurturing his deep love for animals.
